At WheelsTV we are always coming up with new ideas while staying on the cutting edge with the latest trends in technology to make these ideas come to life. First we started with automotive programming which started back in the 80's and was produced straight through the 90's. Our programs pioneered the automotive programming you see on TV today and we can all thank Jim Barisano for creating this genre for Lifestyles, Enthusiasts, and Gearheads.
Fast forward a decade ahead and we're in the 2000's, faced with new technology which means new distribution outlets and ways to get our content out to the masses. The official WheelsTV Channel on your local cable provider was in the making until HD came along and bumped all of us standard definition guys to the side. No hard feelings though as we were able to take advantage of a new outlet called the internet. With broadband speeds increasing in every home worldwide, we knew this was the direction we wanted to be heading in. Since then we've got a big grasp in the online world when it comes to distributing our content.
As Lehel mentioned in his latest blog entry about
building an automotive themed social network, we've created this great community while backing it up with great content which we already syndicate to thousands of people worldwide. Although we're a social networking site I think it's more accurate to say we're a
social media networking site because of the way we take the elements of MySpace, YouTube and Cars to create My WheelsTV Garage.
So what do we call this new automotive era of content, community, and culture? We call it
WheelsTV 3.0. Our plans continue to revolutionize the automotive genre so stayed tuned for the WheelsTV 3.0 launch because we've got more exciting content coming your way! We can't give you any details at the moment but lets just say if you're a member, you'll be the first to know.
