My son gets his license in less than one month's time.  Where does the time go????  He is a pretty good driver, although a bit heavy on the gass pedal.  We went out shopping for his "first" car.  He is an athlete in school (football, hockey and basebal) so we had to get something that was befitting of his position in school.  I wanted something safe, reliable, with enough room for hockey equipment.

I introduced him to the world of "used car salesmen."  It was quite an education.  We were looking for something in the $4000 range - small pickup or SUV.  We looked at a lot of crap!  We ended up finding a very clean, 2008 Ford Explorer XLT with only 108,000 miles.  It was in great shape inside and out.  It should be a great car for him.  We ended up paying $4600.  A bit more than we had expected, but a very good, reliabile vehicle. 

 Next.....insurance for a 16 year old!!
