There is a replacement for displacement: it's called engineering. This '72 914/4 has a mid-ship blue-printed eurospec 2.0 liter aircooled flat-4 engine that I built myself. Dell'orto carbs, stainless steel exhaust, electronic ignition, adjustable KONI shocks, Tarret Swaybars, Eibach springs on adjustable perches and camber plates, and lightweight magnesium wheels - plus tons of other mods to make this car an absolute hoot to drive and still get 30mpg+. It has two trunks, as well!
